Re: Screen-accessible hardware partition software

Mario:

The Microsoft utility to which you refer, is called DISKPART. It is a command-line driven utility. This utility, is not intended for individuals, who have a limited knowledge of computer hardware and the various versions of the Windows operating systems. The program is not intended for the feint hearted. nor is it intended for those who do not have an in-depth knowledge of the different types of partitions and formats, which can be used on hard drives.

I am a certified CompTia A+ computer Technician, who has a wide knowledge of the different types of partitions and formats, which can be used on hard drives. Even with that knowledge and experience, before attempting to use this utility, I would want and need, to first thoroughly research how to use the program, its features, functions and all available parameters, before attempting to practice on a few old hard drives, which I have around the place.

Unfortunately, at present, I cannot afford the time which I would need in order to be able to use this program for my current problem. Maybe, when my wife, Ann and I have completed our move to the UK and got settled in our new home, I will more than likely have the time to dedicate to such a project. In the mean-time, another software package, such as Partition Magic, which can unlock a hidden partition on a hard drive would be more expedient for my needs at present.

Thank you for the information.

Sincerely:

Dave Durber

if you type fd in the search edit in windows I get create and format hard
disk partitions. I haven't tried it but probably soon, so I'd like to see
what others say.

Hello Dave:

I have Partition Magic for Windows XP. Unfortunately, when I tried to use
Partition Magic to see all the partitions on the laptop's hard drive, the
hidden partition containing the Windows installation system, did not show up
at all. All I could see, was the main partition for Drive C, the Restore
partition and the partition containing the HP Tools.

Thank you for the suggestion though.

I am coming to the conclusion, that I am going to need the assistance of
someone with sight, who can use a utility in Unix to do what I want to do.

Sincerely:

Dave,

Norton Partition Magic is quite accessible. If it's still on the market.

Hello everyone:

I have an HP laptop.

On the hard drive, there is a hidden partition, containing an install of
Windows 7, Home Ultimate, which came with the system when I purchased the
computer.

I now wish to install Windows 7 Professional instead.

Obviously, I will need to remove the hard drive from the laptop and
connect
it to another computer.

I know that I can use the Windows Disk Manager to remove the visible
partitions. However, The Windows Disk Manager, will not show the hidden
partition.

Does anyone on the list, know of any hard drive partitioning software or
hard drive disk management software, which is accessible using a
screen-reader, that will enable me to unhide the hidden partition, so that
I
can delete it?

Any suggestions will be very much appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation

Sincerely:

Dave Durber
