Re: Keystroke for Accessing Path Name in Save As Dialog?

Hi, Dave.
I'll try to be more careful when navigating and saving. I don't think I
press space on the folder control, but Happy Trigger Fingers do bad things
when we're rushing to get a task done.
Thanks,
Dani

Dani:
When you use any program in which you create and edit files, when you open
the "Save As..." dialog box and, you press SHIFT+TAB, the number of times,
to move to the default folder for that particular program, JAWS should tell
you the name of the first file in the folder, (if any exist), and, that it
is unselected. Do not press the SPACE BAR, because, this will highlight the
first file in the folder. The result is that the name of that file will
appear in the "File Name" edit field, In addition, if you had already
entered a file name, in the edit field, it will be erased and replaced by
the name of the file, you just highlighted.

Hi, Harry.<http://lists.the-jdh.com/pipermail/jfw_lists.the-jdh.com/attachments/201403
Thanks for this info. I do that shift+tab twice thing, but run in to the
danger of Windows hijacking a filename in the folder it points to and
renaming the file I want to save to that hijacked filename. I haven't
figured out why Windows 7 does this, and it makes me nuts. So I use the
Insert+b function and wait for JFW to get done reading through the dialog
controls in the Save As window.
Thanks,
Dani

Once you hit enter on Save As, shift tab twice to find the folder. The
default is Documents, I believe. Harry

I have the same question, with the additional part that I am running
Windows
7 Pro and Office 2010. In XP, I do not recall having this problem, there
always being a box telling me what folder the system was pointing to.

Subject: Keystroke for Accessing Path Name in Save As Dialog?
Hi, Everyone.
When I go in to the Save As dialog under the File menu, how do I know
where
a file will save to? At present, I use the Insert+B command and listen for
JFW to read the folder name Windows is pointing to. Is there a quicker way
to get this information?
Thanks,
Dani
