Great suggestions. You were right. In Windows 8, if one presses Windows key plus b, a truncated version of the system tray appears. If one highlights and then presses space on the notification chevron, one gets a much longer list of programs in the system tray. After restarting my computer, Jaws appeared in the system tray. Consequently, I didn't have to customize, though the customization option is available. I navigated to Jaws in the system tray, thereby highlighting it. Then, I hit the applications key, and made the required adjustments. Worked beautifully. BTW, I lost the automatically start Jaws settings when I installed Jaws 15. Jury is still out on Jaws 15. But, it cannot bbe worse than Jaws 13. Can it? Thanks for all the tips. By the way, it is good to be back on the list. I was off for nearly a year, but got back about a month ago. With a regular keyboard (one with a numeric keypad), one can reach the Jaws menu with insert key plus j. On a Windows 7 (or earlier machine), JAWS key plus F-11 will produce a system tray from which one can activate the Jaws menu. The Jaws key plus F-11 doesn't work in Windows 8, and I have only one working JAWS key on this laptop (the capslock key). So, in laptop mode (with the keyboard) Capslock plus j simulates a mouse action. Any ideas how to get to the Jaws menu when Jaws is set to run in the system tray? This is not urgent. I can just plug in an external keyboard temporarily, but one would think there ought to be a way. Perhaps my real problem is the inability to get to the system tray in Windows 8.
