You mean the attrib command?. I think it's something like attrib -R *.doc,
or whatever the extension may be.

It may be possible to uncheck all files using tanmsdos command like xcopy. I
don't remember how, but you might find the way through Google.

You will probably have to go into the properties for each file, and
uncheck "read only" on the general tab until you can get your computer
replaced. As far as I know, there is no global way to make all files
save as not read only. that must be aggravating to have happen.

Yes my computer is messed up and I'm promised that it will be
replaced, but in the mean time all of a sudden all my documents are
being saved as read only. I tried renaming one only to have it turn
up read only. I also copied and pasted it into a new document. Any
ideas? Judith
