Re: read only

Thanks Ted. I went into properties and read only wasn't checked. Don't ask
me how but I finally got it to save as print view. For now. Anyone have a
crystal ball? Judith

Is it possible you have a bug? Not all viruses do unspeakable, horrible
things. Some just do weird things. I remember one several years ago that
turned every document into a template. What version of Office? Word 2010
will let you remove the protection on a document by document basis. This
may be small comfort, if it turns around and saves as read-only again, but
at least you could edit it.

I just went into properties and read only was not checked. I guess this is
what it means to have a really messed up computer. Thanks, Judith

Hello Judith,

You will probably have to go into the properties for each file, and uncheck
"read only" on the general tab until you can get your computer replaced. As
far as I know, there is no global way to make all files save as not read
only. that must be aggravating to have happen.

Good luck,
Mike

Yes my computer is messed up and I'm promised that it will be
replaced, but in the mean time all of a sudden all my documents are
being saved as read only. I tried renaming one only to have it turn
up read only. I also copied and pasted it into a new document. Any
ideas? Judith
