when you are using certain professional or ultimate versions of Winedows it requires that use JAws Professional. However, JAWs professional will work on standard programs. When I switched it was because I went to work for an organization that at the time was using Windows XP Professional and I had to upgrade in order to use JAWs on the office computer that was assigned to me.

Very little! Professional works on more machines, but for the cost of upgrading its not worth it unless you have to.
