David,

Interesting, but in Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.0 that checkbox is not to
be
found anywhere, least of all in General preferences. What version Adobe
Acrobat are you using?

Hello there;

If you're having problems with adobe X try the following;

1, open adobe X,

2, press ctrl+k=preferences,

3, now press the letter "g"=general,

4, now tab and
Uncheck,
Enable Protected Mode at startup

There are other things to try, let's start with this.

If the files don't read at all, is it possible they contain scanned
images which you need to process through OCR software?

Anyway, Accessibility settings can be found on the Edit menu.

I'm using version 10 both at home and work and seems to be working
well for
me. Have you changed the accessibility settings? What part of it
are you
finding inaccessible?

What version of Adobe are you referring to? I use Acrobat 9.0 and
it's very
accessible.

Is it just me or is the newest version of Adobe acrobat reader
inaccessible?
I just started working with a company that deals heavily with adobe
documents, both protected and not protected. I'm using the latest
version
of JFW with windows XP Pro, SP3.
Thanks
