The way I enable edditing mode is to bring Jaws to PC, put the mouse right on the word "enable edditing" and click the left mouse botton by cab +8 on my labtop. I hope this also works for you. Smile. Snow

Of course, the simplicity of the operation means it's worthless for true security, for which one would need to impose a password.

The purpose of protected view is to guard against viruses. Once protection has been eliminated by changing this setting, it would be unwise even to try to open a protected file unless you are completely confident of the source.

Ah, here we go, Lauren, You have to do this from the MS Word side. Same basic procedure: Alt F to open the file menu Arrow up to options In the drop down menu, arrow down to trust center Tab to Trust center settings You'll now be in another drop down list Arrow down to protected view. Now you can tab through and check and uncheck the options you like, including open documents from email in protected view. Of course this means that when you open a file in any other MS program, such as Excel, you'll also have to change the settings in that program if you want all files to open in an editable form.

Where is the security setting in outlook?

Lauren Sincerely, Lauren

Hi Lauren, There may be a simpler way, but I always use the JAWS cursor and go to the top of the page, the second line down will contain the message "this document was opened in protected view" I do a left mouse click on the word "Enable" in "enable editing" which is at the end of that line. You could also change the security settings in Outlook so that documents aren't automatically opened in protected view. Off the top of my head I don't remember how to change these settings in 2013.

Hi:
Does anyone know how I can change this reading protected mode, which I get in attached files, in Word 2013 using Jaws 14 and Windows 8 into a regular document so I can access it?
Sincerely,
Lauren Sincerely,
Lauren
