Re: IE/Firefox and Crashes

I'll add my thanks too, although there was one site where I kept getting a crash and "send error report." I had to keep going to Ninite and checking/unchecking different Flash Players then repeating the installation to see how IE would behave after I made the changes.

Douglas,

The link below should take you to a webpage that enables you to download a
slew of free programs without risk of also installing unwanted applications
like Google Chrome. Search for "flash." The first item is the flash player
for all browsers except IE and the second is for IE only. Each item has a
checkbox above it. In your case, press spacebar on the first of these
checkboxes.

Then press b to take you to the install all selected options button. After
that, follow the download and run prompts.

Note that once you download this small Ninet application, you needn't do so
again. Save it where you'll remember and run it from time to time to catch
updates.

Here's the link:

How do I get the non-IE version of Flash Player for those streaming audio
sites that don't work in Firefox but might work in IE, so IE won't crash and

prompt me with a "send/don't send" error dialog? Should I uninstall the IE
version of Flash Player before downloading the non-IE version? I might lose

some of my streaming stations altogether: either I'll hear no sound when I
go to the particular sites, or I'll be prompted to install missing plugins
and not know where to locate them.
Someone sent a bulletin explaining how to change the filter settings in
"about:config" using Firefox, so FF will work better in sites that use Flash

content, but this procedure doesn't apply to IE. Hope I'm clear this time.

Doug,

I for one didn't reply because I do not stream radio, and didn't
understand
the overall nature of your question. You seem to be asking about both why
IE
is crashing, as well as finding flash content for Firefox? And now you
are
asking about a config file.

Your Firefox seems pretty ancient, by the way -- it is up to version 18
now.

So, I'll bite...Can you restate your original question?

I sent this a couple months ago but got no reply; thanks for your time.
The
"about:config" file works in Firefox but not IE.

Some streaming radio links don't work/play using Firefox, and when I
paste
the URL into IE I get a crash and error report. Once I go to adobe.com
or
oldapps.com, how do I get the non-IE version of Flash? Please direct me
to which links to proceed in which order. (I'm using Firefox 3.6.19 and
IE 8.00.6001.19165) Thanks, and a Merry Christmas to all.

I use firefox 13, and I found that to make flash work with websites, it
is
necessary to use the non-Internet Explorer versions of flash player
available through adobe.com or from oldapps.com

Thank you.

Over a year ago I mentioned that when I visit sites containg flash
content, using IE, I get a crash and error report dialog. My question
never got answered; Dave just sent a blank reply, and when I asked what
he said, there was no further discussion.
How do I configure IE so it won't crash when I go to sites using Flash?
Thanks.

By the way, if you're finding that Firefox crashes on you on certain
sites containing flash, check out this bulletin.
