Re: Jaws 14 & acrobat

Dave...

Have you tried using the Convenient OCR built into JAWS 14?

Hi,

I went to the raymor and Flanagan furniture web site and pressed enter on
the apply for credit link. Acrobat reader opens after I press on open and
there is suppose to be an "accept" and "decline button", but Jaws won't read
it. Is there a way I can get Jaws to read buttons or a whole page?

Dave,

I bought a laptop that did not have this layout, but I've dealt with plenty
that did. I have not gone into the bios and made those changes.
I'll try it next time I encounter one.

See my reply to Claudia. You might have to do the same thing with
your brand and model of your laptop.

Claudia,

There is likely a key on that keyboard called the Fn key. It is
often on the left side adjacent to the control key. If you press it
along with the Alt key and then F4 the exit command will work. The
function keys have, on many new laptops, been assigned to other
functions, like play and volume controls, etc. this means that if
you want toe use the common commands on the row of function keys you
have to have that Fn key pressed along with Ctrl or Alt or Jaws key.

Has anyone here ever found a way, using the Bios to change this on
laptops that behave this way? It is quite inconvenient.

Hi,

I have my new laptop set up almost the way I need it to be. The
following is what I have so far:
Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium
Jaws 12 (am awaiting my upgrade CDS) Ms Office 2010 Microsoft
Security Essentials

Here is my question, though. This is a laptop, so I have Jaws set
to laptop keyboard. I cannot use the Alt f4 combination to close
programs. I have to press Alt and then arrow up to close or Exit. I
also cannot use Insert plus f12, to tell me the time; Jaws just
stays silent.
So, I'm thinking this has to do with my Function keys?
What do I have to do, in order to get them working correctly?
Thanks.
