I know that in browsers, when an update message occurs, F6 will get me to
it, I may have to F6 more than once.
I've never tried it in T-bird, I think I turned off updates in that program.

OK, just now I got an alert to update Thunderbird, all I got was
"alert", then nothing more about the alert, so I used speach history to
read the whole message and got what keys to hit for each button, in this
case Alt+N for "Not now" and Alt+D for "Download update", but when I
return to Thunderbird to use Alt+N because I don't want the update,
Alt+N didn't do anything, so I used JAWS+Alt+W to virtualize the windows
and nowhere was the altert message found, the alert was gone, I suspect
that it was gone even before I used speech history to read it.

It just happened again!

Immediately after sending a message there was an alert from Thunderbird
but seems to have immediately disappeared because I cannot access it by
tabbing around or using F6.

Isn't there any other way to get to these alerts so I can hear what it
says? All I ever get is "Alert!". I know its from Thunderbird because
when I go into the JAWS notifications manager, the alert from
Thunderbird is the last one listed. But I can't do anything with it from
there.
