I use a docking station for my Dell Latitude while I'm at home and use a wired Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. The only things I don't like about Dell's keyboard is that it lacks an application (right click) key and that it is not the natural split keyboard design I'm used to.

One way around the laptop keyboard problem can be the use of an external

Not only will this give one the use of all the standard desktop keys and
combos, but, I find an external beyboard far easier to type on.
I use a laptop when traveling; but only with an external kb as it, for me
at least, eliminates the 2 downsides to laptops.
Just a thought to keep in mind when considering a laptop.
