Try doing a repair on jaws. It won't uninstall. -------------------------------------------------- From: "Michelle Abadia" <michelle.abadia@...> Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2012 12:25 PM To: "The Jaws for Windows support list." <jfw@...> Subject: RE: Punctuation announcements on jaws 13 Hi Ted.
I've done that. I've followed every instruction given by everyone: bill, Brad, Adrian, Chris, Gerald. And I thank you all for your kind and expert assistance. But nothing works for me. I just hope and pray that FS will do something about this punctuation issue in future releases.
Thank you.

No, punctuation can be set any way you want in any or all profiles. Default here refers to "all applications," not to a particular profile. To quickly and easily reach "default" in settings center, just tab up once from the search box and tap D.

The only way to set default punctuation is to adjust it in your default profile. For some reason, in recent versions of JAWS, FS made punctuation setting ridiculously cumbersome.
The short description of how to create a profile is to open the JAWS context menu with insert-j, then press enter on options. Arrow down once to "voices."
Here, you have two choices, which you also select with the up or down arrow key and by pressing enter. One is for voice adjustment and the other for profiles. Actually, both involve profiles.
It's been a while since I've worked with this area of JAWS, and I'm in a rush right now. See if this is enough information to get you going. If not, please post again and I'll give more complete directions later if no one else has. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounces@... I didn't see any of that. How do you save it so that it's the default?
Thanks. Michelle

hmm did you save the change to the default configuration? Sometimes I change something that I want to happen globally, but I do it in a particular application by mistake.

I have already set it to "none". It continues to announce punctuations. Hence, my query.

If you don't want to hear punctuations set it to none. I

Greetings all.
I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with win7, 64 bit and jaws 13. I don't like punctuation marks to be announced. I had it set to "none";
but jaws continued to announce them. I spoke to FS tech support, who
advised me to change it to "some". I did; and still most punctuation marks
get announced. Is this an unfixable bug in Jaws 13? Or is there a way around it?
Thanks very much in advance. Michelle abadia Michelle.abadia@...

uh, press PAGEDown or whatever you need to press to advance to the next page, and perform OCR again. repeat as necessary.
Convenient OCR is no substitute for an actual OCR application. It's a quick solution for times when you may not be able to access information, such as a pesky installation screen or short PDF document. It's not meant for book reading.
For that you'll want one of the blindness specific OCR packages like K1000 or Openbook, or an off-the-shelf OCR application like Omnipage, FineReader, etc.

Hi,
When using OCR in Jaws 13 and Windows XP, I often have a document with multiple pages. How can I get Jaws to read me the subsequent pages, after page one? Thanks.
